Exploring the Art of Model Making Workshop with Patrick

We recently wrapped up an incredible three-week model making workshop here at the Warriors Art Room, and what a journey it was. Led by our talented and dedicated volunteer Patrick, this workshop brought together veterans, family members, and community members to dive into the detailed and creative world of miniature design and construction.

Participants learned the fundamentals of scale, structure, and storytelling—turning foam board, cardboard, and found materials into compelling three-dimensional scenes. Patrick guided the group through each phase of the process, offering personalized instruction and creative encouragement along the way.

Though the structured sessions have ended, the spirit of model making lives on in our studio. Several participants have continued to develop their work, returning during open studio hours to refine their creations and explore new ideas. It’s a powerful reminder that art doesn’t end when the class does—it becomes part of how we engage with the world.

Model making is just one of the many forms of artistic expression we support at the Warriors Art Room. Whether it's painting, sculpture, or detailed miniature design, we’re proud to provide space, materials, and community for veterans and their families to create.

Thank you, Patrick, for sharing your skills and passion. And thank you to all who participated—we can’t wait to see what you build next.
