A Creative Saturday Morning: Botanical Gel Plate Printing Workshop Recap

This past Saturday morning, the studio at the Warriors Art Room came alive with color, texture, and creative energy. Our Botanical Gel Plate Printing Workshop welcomed participants eager to explore a playful and expressive printmaking process.

Under the guidance of instructor Janine Norton, attendees learned the fundamentals of gel plate printing step by step. From the very beginning, Janine encouraged experimentation. As a result, participants felt comfortable trying new techniques and trusting the process.

First, tables filled with leaves, plant material, and layers of ink. Then, as prints were pulled, excitement spread across the room. Each reveal brought surprise and curiosity. Because no two prints ever turn out the same, every piece felt personal and unique.

Meanwhile, conversations flowed easily between participants. People shared ideas, compared results, and offered encouragement. The relaxed pace of the morning allowed everyone to slow down and stay present. Instead of rushing, participants focused on the joy of making.

By the end of the workshop, the studio displayed a wide range of finished prints. Some featured bold color fields. Others highlighted delicate botanical details. Together, they reflected both the natural materials used and the individual voices behind them.
